Ratana Counsel · Bangkok
A Legal Practice Shaped Around the People It Serves
Founded on the conviction that pension matters deserve careful attention and clear explanations, Ratana Counsel works alongside clients throughout every stage of their situation.
Our Story
Built on the Belief That Pension Rights Matter
Ratana Counsel was established in Bangkok with a single purpose: to provide individuals facing pension difficulties with a steady, knowledgeable hand. Too many people reach retirement age only to find their entitlements reduced, questioned, or withheld — often without a clear explanation and without knowing where to turn.
Our practice developed from years of work alongside individuals navigating the Social Security Office, private occupational schemes, and cross-border pension arrangements. What began as a quiet specialism grew into a dedicated team focused exclusively on pension legal matters.
Today, Ratana Counsel serves clients ranging from long-term Bangkok residents approaching retirement to expatriates whose pension entitlements span multiple countries. The practice is built on transparency: we do not take on matters we cannot assist with, and we do not make representations we cannot keep.
Our Mission
Accessible Guidance for Complex Situations
Legal processes surrounding pensions can be slow, technical, and difficult to follow. Our mission is to make them understandable. Every client receives a clear explanation of their position, a realistic picture of what is possible, and consistent support throughout.
Clarity first. Before any work begins, we explain what we have found and what options are available in language that makes sense.
Honest assessment. We give a realistic view from the start — including where matters are uncertain or where the prospects are limited.
Consistent contact. Clients work with a named adviser throughout. Questions are answered. Updates are provided. Nothing is left unexplained.
No pressure. We work at the pace our clients are comfortable with, and we never push for services beyond what is genuinely needed.

Every aspect of our practice is structured to maintain the trust our clients place in us.
Licensed Legal Practice
All legal work is conducted by qualified practitioners registered with the Thai Lawyers Council. Clients can verify professional standing at any time.
Client Confidentiality
Strict legal professional privilege applies to all communications and documents. Client information is never shared without explicit consent.
Written Engagement Terms
Every engagement begins with a written scope of work and fixed fee, so there are no surprises about what is being undertaken or what it will cost.
Regular Case Updates
Clients receive updates at each meaningful stage of their matter. No waiting weeks without news — communication is a core part of our process.
Thorough Documentation Review
We examine all relevant documents carefully before advising. Our written summaries set out what we have found and what it means in plain terms.
Impartial Assessment
Our duty is to each client's informed interests, not to generating further work. Where a matter does not warrant legal action, we say so clearly.
Expertise & Values
Pension Legal Counsel That Puts the Individual First
Pension legal work in Thailand requires familiarity with the Social Security Act, the National Savings Fund regulations, and the legal framework governing private and occupational pension schemes — as well as the practical procedures of the relevant administrative bodies. Ratana Counsel has developed this familiarity across years of case work, representing individuals whose pension situations range from uncomplicated entitlement questions to contested multi-year disputes.
For expatriates and foreign nationals residing in Thailand, the situation often involves pension entitlements in home countries — the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, the United States, and others — alongside whatever Thai arrangements may apply. Our practice has experience navigating correspondence with overseas pension authorities and understanding how bilateral social security agreements affect entitlement calculations.
The older population of Bangkok and the wider region continues to grow, and with it the number of people who find themselves uncertain about what their pension should provide. Ratana Counsel exists to address that uncertainty with care, competence, and respect for each person's individual situation. We do not offer quick answers to complicated questions — but we do offer considered ones.
Our offices are located on Ratchadamri Road in Pathum Wan, central Bangkok, accessible by public transport and familiar to clients across the city. Consultations are conducted in English, and Thai-language assistance is available where required.
